College presidents

The transition from Dr. Adams to Dr. Holcombe was smooth and orderly because of Holcombe's history at the college. He had served as an English professor, Dr. Adams's assistant, academic dean, and Central Campus provost before leaving for Brevard Community College.

Dr. Holcombe expanded the college's participation in international education. In this picture, he joins with Ellen Cangi and trustee Joyce Cross at the Center for American Education in Singapore.

The rapid growth of the South Campus necessitated installation of modular classroom buildings. The modular buildings help give South Campus a warm, cozy atmosphere.

South Campus Provost Dr. Carl Crawford and Dr. Holcombe look on as trustees Joyce Cross and Katharine Barry cut the ribbon to open the South Campus bookstore.

Each year's Colleague Recognition Day gives Dr. Holcombe a chance to demonstrate his acting ability. Among the characters he has portrayed are Elvis, James Bond, Gerald Ford, and Shoeless Willie Holcombe, along with Central Campus Provost Glen Rose.

Dr. Holcombe and Dr. Catanese, along with local and state dignitaries, pitch the ceremonial shovels of dirt in groundbreaking ceremonies for the BCC/FAU Higher Education Center in November 1999.

Dignitaries join trustees Paul Anderson and Cheryl Krause, Dr. Holcombe, Central Campus Provost Dr. Patricia Caldwell, and Dean of the Student Affairs Dr. Carol Ross-Black in turning the earth for reconstruction of the Robert E. Ferris Center in 2000.

Dr. Adams presents Broward Judge James Minnet with a Distinguished Service Award in 1978.

Dr. Adams served Broward Community College from 1968 to 1986, guiding its rise in size and prestige among the nation's two-year colleges. To honor his accomplishments and service to the college, Central Campus was renamed A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in December 1986.
