The Downtown Center sits in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The larger building in the foreground is the Fort Lauderdale News building. Next to it is the Governor's Club Hotel, razed to provide the site for the joint FAU/BCC Higher Education Center, which was dedicated in 2001.
One of the greatest accomplishments of Dr. Adams was making the college a multicampus institution. He stands across East Las Olas Boulevard from the Downtown Center, dedicated in 1973 as the college administrative headquarters and an instructional site.
Architect William G. Crawford, who designed many of the buildings on Central Campus, modernized the building's facade and transformed the drive-through to a registration area.
