Each year's Colleague Recognition Day gives Dr. Holcombe a chance to demonstrate his acting ability. Among the characters he has portrayed are Elvis, James Bond, Gerald Ford, and Shoeless Willie Holcombe, along with Central Campus Provost Glen Rose.

Among the events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the college in 1990 was a picnic and field day for the college family.

Members of the college family also gathered for a 30th anniversary group photo. The photo was used on the cover of the Fort Lauderdale phone book.

Dr. Holcombe and Dr. Catanese, along with local and state dignitaries, pitch the ceremonial shovels of dirt in groundbreaking ceremonies for the BCC/FAU Higher Education Center in November 1999.

The 12-story, $18-million Higher Education Center was designed by Singer Architects of Fort Lauderdale and constructed on the former site of the historic Governor's Club Hotel. The building covers 147,000 square Feet.

The new Ferris Center, dedicated in March 2002, is architecturally distinctive and offers a greater variety of Student Affairs functions.
