North Campus, dedicated in February 1972, is pictured early in its development. Building 41, the first building constructed on campus, is the tiny triangle at the lower left center of the picture.

Building 41, used originally as an administration and student services building, was constructed of a series of triangles and was an attention-getter on Coconut Creek Parkway. The building was razed to make way for the Health Science Center II.

The Omni Auditorium, opened in 1980, serves as home to BCC's men's basketball and women's volleyball teams. The multi-purpose facility seats 2,000 and also is used for graduation ceremonies and a variety of civic and cultural events.

The $14.5 million FAU/BCC University/College Library expanded the old library's holdings by more than 100,000 volumes, expanded its physical size from 37,000 square feet to 112,000, and added sophisticated technological capabilities to benefit students.

Not all of the constructions on BCC's campuses have been BCC buildings. Here, Dr. Holcombe helps with groundbreaking for Florida Atlantic University's Davie Classroom Building II on Central Campus. Joining him, from left to right, are state senator Ken Jenne, Dr. Catanese, and state senator Howard Forman. The FAU Liberal Arts Building is another example of university's presence on central campus.

The $3.5-million Pines Center, part of the Pembroke Pines Academic Village, provides a charter high school, a branch of the county library, and athletic fields for city residents. The two-story Pines Center, at Sheridan Street and 172nd Avenue, is of Mediterranean architectural style and serves up to 5,000 students.

This is a photo of the 26,000 square-foot interior of the Pines Center under construction. The building was designed to provide state-of-the-art technological instructional opportunities to students. It contains two completely computerized multimedia classrooms and teleconference facilities. The Academic Village is constructed on a 77-acre campus built in the Jeffersonian quadrangle mode of the University of Virginia.
